Many people often ask me about my travels and admire that I get around quite a bit. But my reply is always the same: traveling is only fun when you have a good place to come home to. As much as I enjoy traveling, I couldn’t imagine being constantly on the road, that would quickly turn into a nightmare. It’s important to have roots and remember where you’re from.
Right now I’m home. After being to Paris, Moscow, Beijing & inner Mongolia and Shanghai in the past 4 weeks it feels great to drink a Melange in a Viennese coffee house.
Of course it’s easy to enjoy Vienna in August. Right now I am sitting on the terrace of a coffee house in a baroque castle atop a mountain overlooking Vienna (the Schloss Wilhelminenberg). It’s sunny, windy and just soo comfortable at 19,5 degrees. Just perfect. Compare that to schlepping camera gear, waiting for late flights or – my favorite – getting frisked by airport security…
